The curfew issued in Evacuation Zone A for Citrus County will remain in place for the duration of the State of Emergency.

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. — A massive cleanup is underway for thousands of people in Citrus County just two days after Hurricane Helene swept through the Tampa Bay area.
The hum of generators was the soundtrack in Ozello on Saturday. The power is still out in the coastal community as families survey damage from storm surge for the third time in about a year.
“I think people around here are pretty tired,” resident Chris Fuhrer said. “There’s nothing we can do. The storms just get worse and worse every year. It’s so unfortunate, its such a beatuiful place, I don’t know why it continues to just be decimated.”
Fuhrer came home Friday night to find several feet of water made its way inside, as Helene brought in 30 more inches than what Idalia brought.
It’s a similar story in Crystal River, where full home’s worth of damaged belongings lay out on the side of the road. Along King’s Bay, several feet of water went into homes and businesses.
The popular Cracker’s Restaurant and Bar is cleaning up and trying to get back open for next week.
“It’s crazy, it really is,” Cracker’s Manager Jason King said. “But, thank god for everybody that helps, because if we didn’t have that it would be weeks until we could open up.”
Strength in community is shared across a slice of Florida that’s been through so much.
The curfew issued in Evacuation Zone A for Citrus County will remain in place for the duration of the State of Emergency.

VIRTUAL LUNCH FEATURING
Ambassador Michael Oren

Program begins at Noon
About the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches:
As a nonprofit organization, the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches is Florida’s largest non-partisan political and public affairs organization. Since 1976 when President Jimmy Carter served as its inaugural speaker, the Forum Club has hosted a majority of the sitting U.S. Supreme Court justices and a variety of thought leaders whose words and actions affect the world in which we live.
About the speaker:
In 2009, Michael Oren was appointed Israel’s ambassador to the United States. Interacting with the White House, Congress, the Pentagon, and the CIA, he dealt with crucial strategic issues such as the Iron Dome defense system and the Iran nuclear threat. He reached out to communities across America, spoke on numerous campuses, and defended Israel in the media. He received the Statesman of the Year Medal from the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and the Dr. Martin Luther King Legacy Prize for International Service.
Returning to Israel, Oren was elected to Knesset—Israel’s parliament—where he headed a classified committee on international affairs and served as Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, in charge of diplomacy. He made state visits to Europe, Central America, and the Far East. Politico named him as one of the fifty most influential thinkers in America, by the Forward as one of the five most influential Jews in America, and the Jerusalem Post as one of the ten most influential Jews worldwide.
Dear Citizens ,
I hope this message finds you well.
We are currently in discussions with food truck and generator providers to enhance our emergency response efforts. The county’s emergency teams have already established communication and coordination with providers, ensuring they are strategically stationed throughout the county.
Additionally, representatives from Tallahassee are actively present in the safe zone, prepared to assist with resource allocation and communication as needed. Their readiness to make necessary phone calls and mobilize resources will be invaluable in our ongoing efforts to support the community during this time.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to our continued collaboration.
Best regards,
